Sami Sirviö
Sami Sirviö was born in Eskilstuna, his parents
are, as you can probably tell from his name, from Finland. In 1990 Jocke
Berg bought him a guitar and together they started playing it, but as it
turned out Sami was the fastest in his fingers.
He, Jocke and Martin formed Kent in 1990, and in
the band he is musically seen the most immportant band member after Jocke.
He plays the lead guitar, keyboards and 6 stringed bass. He is what you
a call a typical natural talent and what he can accomplish on a guitar
is simply amazing. According to us, and probably to a lot of other people,
Sami is the best guitar player in the world and nobody can compete with
him! Even Jocke himself admitted that his wonderful deep lyrics get their
special meaning because of Sami's sensitive guitar playing.
The rest of the band considers Sami as the real cool
person of them all. Jocke says they all want to be Sami, and that he is
even cool when he sleeps or is completely loaded! He has that natural "coolness"
of having no image at all... It's also said that he is a chainsmoker of
the worst kind, and that some days 2 (two!) packets of cigarettes isn't
enough.
In the summer of 1998 he broke his foot (does anybody
know how it happened? E-mail us!) and he had to sit on a chair on stage
to play. The stage manager said the stage had never been so clean before!
Also there is a weird site about him on the net with
a photo of him on it (or so it it says) only wearing trousers and with
long undyed hair... But we do understand why the person who made that site
says he's a god :-)
