Joakim Berg

This genius was born in Eskilstuna. As a kid he spent most of his time reading books, rather than go out and play soccer. During highschool he had a sort of gang with his brother Adam. In 1988, he bought his first guitar in Stockholm and learned himself play. With help of a hardrock friend, the first song he could play was U2's "Sunday Bloody Sunday".

It's tempting to say that Jocke IS in fact Kent. He writes all the lyrics himself, writes 95 % of the music and he has an amazing way of expressing those feelings with his voice. He also plays the guitar. Without him, Kent simply wouldn't be Kent. He also writes for other people, for example he wrote the lyrics for Peter Svenssons (Cardigans) solo project "Paus" and he wrote songs for Jenny Öhlund and Incka.

In the past people have asked him all over again why he wrote his songs in swedish. In english they could be so big.... His answer was that he thinks in swedish and that it was natural to express his feelings in that language. He transelated "Isola" himself, but he had his friend Chris Gordon, who plays in a scottish band, to help him with that.

At home he listens to bands like Radiohead, Depeche Mode, the Smiths, David Bowie and the Beatles. He can't sleep in the tourbuss. The haircut he had in 1996 is still called a "Jocke Berg Haircut", Sweden's horrible Lasse Lindh has one, allthough he now experiments more with his hair.
By the way, Jocke looks fabulous in leather....
