Harri Mänty
Harri, born on july 30, 1971 in Västerås
as Harri Kalervo Mänty, joined the band officially in 1996. He replaced
Martin Roos, who is now managing the group. He already played on concerts
with them in 1995. When his best friend Martin Sköld called him one
day and told him that the band was thinking of getting a guitar assistent
during tours, his reaction was a typical swedish swear word, as Martin
knew very well that he played guitar.
Before becoming the 3d finnish member of Kent, which
makes the finns the majority, he worked as a bricklayer for 3 or 4 years.
He still lived in Eskilstuna when he joined, living occasionally with Martin
Sköld, but moved to Stockholm soon when he became a real member.
Besides playing the rhythm guitar, he also did the
percussion and the drum machine on 'Isola'. One of his other talents is
repeating a sentence all over again to make his point 'clear'. He is a
quite talkative type and was very exciting about being a member of Kent
in 1996.
He really likes to get late phonecalls from people
and doesn't like people too much who actually don't dare to call him so
late. He also enjoys making new drinks with Sami Sirviö. On the contrary
you might think Harri likes listening to hip hop and thinks Sly Stone is
a hero.
What we personally like most about Harri is his simularity
to dutch discjockey and 'vj' at the dutch music channel 'TMF' Ruud de Wild.
No offence; we think Ruud is one of the coolest persons on dutch radio/tv,
who enjoys insulting people who like boybands. We think that Harri and
Ruud will get along just fine...
